JAMES WELLS is a Toronto-based motivational listener, consultant, teacher, and facilitator who is dedicated to merging soul and strategy. From childhood, he has been curious about what makes people and the Universe tick. Through tools and processes such as circle methodology, tarot, reiki, and journal writing, James and his clients and students are inspired to remember their creativity, resourcefulness, and wholeness. Whether at home or abroad, whether in personal sessions or in workshop settings, he provides an experience of council mind. In his “me time”, James enjoys reading, writing, music, walking, close friends, and good food.
CIRCLE PROCESS
Circle process is a highly adaptable conversational methodology in which ancestral wisdom and cutting edge leadership meet. Through circle process, we can harvest wisdom, build connection, discover solutions, and hold conversations that matter through sacred, non-judgemental witnessing. Just as our ancestors held council around campfires to engage in conscious dialogue, we sit in a circle so that all are equal. We put agreements in place so that it’s safe space for all. We create a physical centre in our midst to represent our best intent for the gathering, and we create an energetic centre by having a clear intent or question to address. We speak only when it’s our turn and we do so from personal experience. We listen deeply, through the heart. Through that profound listening, something is transformed. The circle and various methodologies that are rooted in circle can be used in many settings and contexts — spiritual gatherings, the helping professions, small businesses, corporations, community groups, families, writing circles, educational organisations, and so much more. Whatever the setting, your group will be richer for it.
If your group or organisation is interested in circle facilitation, contact James. Fees depend on location, duration of time, and size of group.

I attend James’ monthly tarot gatherings because they accelerate my acceptance and trust of my own intuition. I am delighted with the variety of activities, the fun and meeting others on the journey.
I seek him out and refer my friends and clients to James Wells because I trust him to engage our questions and healing needs with the utmost integrity. Regardless of how many times I have consulted with him, I have always been surprised and inspired by what has emerged.
I find James Wells inspirational, fun, kind, generous, grounded and spiritual. Did I say fun? Let me add celebratory, joyful and a continual source of laughter.
What I love about having him in my life as a friend and teacher is the ease with which he shares knowledge, healing , ritual and help.
James is a gift. I thank the Goddess regularly for his presence on the planet.

James was one of the featured presenters at our 2008 Readers Studio conference for tarot professionals. His workshop was fascinating, thought-provoking and fun — and months later, attendees are still talking about it!
We have also received enthusiastic feedback from numerous people who have had a reading or series of reading sessions with James.

I have been to 2 Tarot sessions with James and attended the “Destiny Cards Workshop” and I can say this of James:
James creates a welcoming sacred space that can only encourage your soul to come forth. He encourages you to “show up for yourself.”
Through thoughtful skill and heart-full experience, James helps you to celebrate the shining signs that light our path…signs we so often fail to appreciate for the gifts they truly are.

James reads Tarot like no other! During my reading, he guided me to build a physical path for my life experience. I immediately went and dug up a 180′ garden bed with The Fool at one end and The Hermit at another. It’s an evolutionary masterpiece! It has also led to other areas of my life being able to grow. James does a beautiful job guiding people to reclaim the joy in their lives. He doesn’t give you the answers, but guides you to find them and challenge yourself.

I’m going to put here what I put into my own blog about James…
Twas a blissful experience of harvesting questions and communicating with someone who is whipsmart and witty as hell and who (unconsciously?) emits truth after truth after truth in these little lightning strikes. Zzzt!
The process itself is a terrific interplay of his questions eliciting my questions, his witnessing my questions, my witnessing his observations.
Not all sheets of gauze waving gently in the wind, however. Out of the chaos of wafty gauze, Mr. Wells creates order.
The three sessions had an arc to them, which meshed nicely with my topic, a meaty business-slash-personal growth hunk of knottiness that needed some serious tenderizing.
The first session, for me, was at the visioning/issue exploration level (grounded in birth cards),
The second pertained to the whos and whats … and pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses of each Who and each What,
And the third session went temporal, with a month by month awareness-raising of wants vs. needs.
Bottom line: James has vision and wisdom and humor.
Engaging in a tarot consult with James is not to be missed.
…even now there are things he said in the reading that pop into my head from time to time … they were so spot on and funny and real … sigh. All good. Thank you James.

As for his reiki courses, how James manages to establish such fertile ground for self exploration and shared revelation in just one weekend is nothing short of beautiful. It’s like Woodstock without the drugs — a spiritual high that opens up a cloudy night and lets the moon do her stuff. And all that glowy lunar goodness spills right over onto his tarot consultations. I am blessed to call him a good friend on my journey.

I have been getting readings with James for over 5 years. Here is a sample of 6 victories I have had as a result of our work:
1. Peace in my relationships with my parents.
2. Presence and bliss before, during and after the passing of my mother.
3. Designing of and delighting in my marriage during extreme challenges to our union and sanity.
4. Standing my ground with grace, passion and ingenuity during the biggest character test of my life.
5. Success in a difficult legal issue.
6. Endless progress with constant travel, community and career plans.
James is my number one go-to for kind, innovative, focused, brilliant, wise, useful guidance.
His work is masterful and he is my most valued teacher. My investment with him continues to increase my assets.

James manages to combine a very refined precision with a light-hearted freedom in his Tarot readings and Circle-work. Drawing upon many sources, he has a wealth of esoteric knowledge at his fingertips; he sprinkles these into personal readings in a way that gives the person a much more expansive perspective and a sense of how his or her situation relates to the larger picture.
It is an art to combine intuition, humor, and concrete solutions in one session, and James does this skillfully.
I’ve had the opportunity to be with James in various circles. He thrives in these settings; the skills he has developed in his personal tarot readings takes on a 360 degree sensibility. He can read the energy of the group, hold his center, and offer something that gently steers the group into new, creative waters. Being with him in a circle makes me feel safe, respected, and energized.
I trust his ability to drop into the ‘well of deep listening’, draw upon various sources for inspiration, and articulate what he finds in a way that is both inspiring and utterly practical.

Although James Wells and I have yet to meet in person, I have a strong impression of warmth, humour and intuitive expression of this well-learned man after welcoming him as my guest on “Living on Purpose” in April 2009.

I also had the opportunity to have a tarot reading by phone with him, and appreciated his ability to listen, offer counsel, and allow answers to arise of their own accord. His wealth of experience and historical knowledge of tarot adds a special dimension to his readings.
I am looking forward to meeting James, which I am sure will confirm my impression of the magic atmosphere he cultivates for the benefit of all.

James feels like a very old friend. When I did meet him at Reader’s Studio in 2009, he was exactly the person I expected; in fact it seemed like I already knew what he looked like. It was a lovely kind of recognition.
I have been working with James doing series of reading for several years now. I think of him as one of my Tarot teachers.
I appreciate his skills at guiding me through the course of a reading, his vast knowledge of various aspects of the cards and the other skills from other disciplines he brings to the sessions.
I especially appreciate his humor and ability to keep me on task. (I have no earth in my chart?)

James is a wise advisor, smiling, light in his words, helping me choose good questions, helping me intuit what the cards show, and expanding for me on their meanings. I receive another window into myself and the world I am experiencing, and that is a gift.
James has worked with me in readings for several years and I always appreciate the added clarity, even when i receive only confirmation of what I already know. I feel better about my decisions because I’ve had another opportunity to explore them. As a result I allow myself to put more weight into whatever course I choose to follow.

James’ Tarot coaching has opened my eyes to the many uses of the tarot deck both in business and in my personal life.
His gentle teaching manner allows me to open up more and ask the questions that I would normally shy away from.

James Wells teaches Tarot reading not by rote, not by the book, but intuitively, relying on the impression one receives from looking at a Tarot card. Surely each card has a specific meaning, but then you are taught to go beyond the traditional description and let the images speak to you, considering every detail depicted on a card. His knowledge of mythology also adds to a meaningful interpretation. James is a wonderful teacher who brings out the best in each of his students. His human warmth, intuitiveness and sense of humour endear him to all of us. He is at the same time a wise old man and a playful young man.

Whether it’s through one-on-one Tarot work, classroom Tarot experiences or Circle work, I always appreciate the qualities James brings to the table. He is warm and welcoming. His insights are valuable. His knowledge base is extensive. He has a deep-seeded wisdom that always hold my attention yet he never takes himself too seriously… and I just can’t get enough of his sharp wit.

I was fortunate enough to meet James at the 2011 Omega Tarot Conference, which he summarizes beautifully in his August 3rd blog entry. I was struck immediately by his presence — very gentle, affirming, and yet powerful. He is highly aware of and skilled in the art of ritual, and the simple rituals he led us through really enhanced the conference for me. I thoroughly enjoyed his presentations and the wonderful tarot spread he shared, his Curveball Spread, using a combination of face-up “chosen” tarot cards with some face-down “let’s let the tarot speak about this” cards. I also very much enjoyed his emphasis on ending with small concrete steps to take to bring one’s goal into manifestation. I bought his book, just finished it, and can testify that it’s a tiny powerhouse of useful information.
In summary, I believe that James has a wonderful combination of deep knowledge, sensitivity, and ability to both listen to and empower clients–and then to be sure they don’t leave without committing to a sensible, do-able next step. I look forward to more work with him, and to hearing more from him in future books and workshops!
