Today is 12 – 12 – 12, the only time in our lifetime that these numbers will configure like this on the Western calendar. A lot of people are speaking of whatever significance this has.
Number 12 in the tarot is the Hanged Man. So, we have three hanging men/people side by side. The Hanged Man, for me, can connote waiting, hanging around, suspension, time out, surrender…
Therefore, what does 12 – 12 – 12 signify for me?
Nothing. It’s simply another day on Earth. Let’s get on with living it.
Though as Hanged Man….one could look at things very differently. What if the end of the world on 12/21/12 were true in that we could imagine a world way healthier than the one we currently create?
Oh does that mean I don’t get another punch on my end of the world punch card? 😉 One more and I get one free!… I totally agree with you James thank you for being frank.
And yes Nance I think we are all of us learning to see things in new ways but that may just be the age we are in now. Instant communication and all. We the people have become on the spot reporters and not too much goes on that we don’t find our about..
The Hanged Man tells me that today is a good day to look at everything from a new perspective — a different angle than my usual way of looking at things. In addition, the numerology of 12/12/2012 reduces the date to the number 11, which also reduces to 2. This makes today’s date a Justice/High Priestess day — and the same is true for the date 12/21/12. The High Priestess holds the key to the mysteries of the future and Justice warns us to keep balanced and focused, and to find what really works in our life. In experiencing these energies, whatever happens on 12/12/12 or 12/21/12, we are being called to change our ways of thinking and living.
Completely agree with Elizabeth!!!
Of course, the many viewpoints about this day can be helpful if employed consciously and judiciously. I just wanted to point out that one can find significance in almost any event or configuration of events. And I wanted to make sure that we don’t get so caught up in looking for outer signs and saviours that we forget that there ultimately can be no saviour except oneself. These are indeed precarious times, times that ecophilosopher and activist Joanna Macy says will either be the Great Unravelling or the Great Turning. We contributed a lot to these times and only we can change them. There never has been and never will be some deus ex machina who makes something better. The days of the sacrificed god hanging on the tree are done. We are the ones we have been waiting for. And that’s OK.
amen
Hmm…
Our discussion leads me to this question:
“What life-giving, life-sustaining contributions can I make to these times?”
In which case, our discussion here has offered me some significance. Thank you.
