When I reflect on the previous year — its challenges and joys, its sorrows and triumphs — I would say that it was a year in which I became even more aware of the power of choice. My capacity to notice that my choices can help me to create meaning from experience is expanded. I entered some difficult (for me) moments and came out of them choosing to make something from them that can be of benefit to many of us. The choice to allow wounds and sorrows to become doorways to the Creative Muse was, and continues to be, a powerful one for me.
Something else from 2012 that I’m still digesting is that my fears about whether or not I can handle something are often dissolved by actually entering the situations and places that I dread. To step into the reality of something stops my mind from spinning into disastrous scenarios that aren’t really happening. When I gave myself permission to go into the hard experiences, I was able to generate creative responses based on the truth of each moment.
These gifts from 2012, for me, are best depicted by Trump 0 and Trump XXI. By stepping into the unknown with trust in myself, I empowered myself to create a world of possibilities.
What about YOU? What was 2012 about for you? What gifts are you harvesting from the previous year that can nourish you in this brand new year? What image(s) might best represent those gifts?
